Why Katie wanted to be Miss Shamrock:

I come from a very large Irish family - on both sides. We have a motto that we live by: "The more, the merrier". We apply this motto to people, food, drink, and fun. But most important, we truly believe that there is always room for everyone. As Miss Shamrock, I would be great at spreading Irish cheer throughout the community through my love of family, faith, and fun. When I visited Ireland in college, I immediately felt like I was at home. Every person I met was very hospitable and went out of their way to talk to me or help me. My strong family background and outgoing personality will help me to bring the hospitable nature of Ireland's people to our own community.
