William "Bill" Haas     1924-2002

Bill was President of the St. Patrick's Association in 1980-81. For many years before he was President, and during his term, he was active in the sale of St. Patrick's Buttons. 
Stewart believes that he invented the "Button Blitz". 

Haas - William E. 'Bill', died on Saturday, October 12, 2002 at 78 years old. Preceded in death by parents, William A. & Katherine A. Haas; sister, Mary Buol Sehmann; brother, Joseph A. Haas. Survived by sister, Catherine E. (Robert) Coles; and brother, Thomas A. (Sally) Haas. 
Bill attended St. Mark's Grade School, Central High School and the University of Minnesota. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946.
Bill was a lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus. Bill retired in 1982 after 32 years with NSP and served for a number of years as their Client Relations Representative. He also volunteered for the National Alliance of Businessmen and participated in Meals on Wheels. 
For several years he was actively involved in St. Paul's St. Patrick's Day Parade. In 1993 he was featured on the WCCO Good Neighbor Program. Bill loved people, especially children and his dog, Barney. 
The family thanks his special friends, The Tim O'Gara family and neighbor Don Keies and the staff from HealthEast Hospice for their kindness to Bill. 
Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Friday at ST. MARK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH (2001 Dayton Ave., at Moore, St. Paul).
Visitation 4-8PM Thursday at O'HALLORAN & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul, 651-698-0796. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
